ZespóÅ‚ SzkóÅ‚ Ponadgimnazjalnych w Somoninie exists for 38 years from now. It has always played an impotrant role as an education centre for the inhabitants of Somonino and nearby area.

The school offers education for youths between 16 and 19 years old in the week days and for adults at the weekends. Students can choose among three years vocational training (hairdresser, carpenter, plumber, cook, elecrtician, mechanic, pastry cook, seler, roofer) or technical school (a hotel technical school and  a techninal school for gastronomy and catering services). The school is quite little  - it has about 300 students in 10 classes, 41 employees (32 of them are teachers).

The school building has changed a lot during the school’s history. Nowadays there are 12 classrooms, two kitchens, consumer service classroom, gym, ICT classroom, library, sitting area for students, teachers’ staff room and cloakroom with lockers for every student. Every classroom is equipped with laptop and projector. The school’s events usually take place in the gym.

In the region the school is famous for being a leader in the amount of European Union projects for students and teachers. Between 30 and 40 students each year take part in monthly apprenticeships in Malta, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Turkey (cooks and catering services) and in Germany (carpenters and mechanics).

​

The school participates in many culinary contests in Kashubia region and also abroad in the Olivier Roellinger Contest for the preservation of marine resources. For it’s culinary achievements in the 2014 the school has gained a title “Culinary talent forge” given by the Association of Polish Chefs.
